Social responsibility

NORRES Schlauchtechnik has a long history of responsible behaviour towards the society we live in. We frequently participate in activities that benefit charitable organisations. We are extremely keen to support projects that help the socially disadvantaged, especially when they involve children. We also make an active contribution towards environmental protection.

NORRES Schlauchtechnik makes regular donations to “Noah's Ark”, a charity that describes itself as “a children’s hospice in the region and for the region”. The Ark’s concept, which is the only one of its kind anywhere in Germany, defines two main functions: to offer a haven for incurably ill children and to act as a short-term care centre for youngsters with severe disabilities. The aim is to assist the families concerned by providing professional care and respite for children and teenagers in the Noah's Ark centre. NORRES traditionally makes a donation to this deserving cause at Christmas.

At NORRES, all people are equal. All our staff benefit from the same opportunities. Their ethnic origin, religion, social background, age, sex or disabilities are considered to be irrelevant. NORRES maintains close links with a centre for handicapped people. Disabled staff carry out their work directly on the NORRES site and are therefore fully integrated in the life of the company.

The sustainable use of natural resources is firmly entrenched in NORRRES Schlauchtechnik's daily work processes. The move to our new “Am Stadthafen” facility coincided with extensive investments in eco-friendly production and HVAC technologies. Efficient insulation, double glazing, centrally controlled air conditioning with water chillers and production utilising heat recovery mean optimal protection for the environment. Since taking possession of the new and completely refurbished plant at the port of Gelsenkirchen in 2009, NORRES has succeeded in reducing the consumption of water, electricity and heating fuel dramatically – despite an almost fourfold increase in floor space.

Sustainability for efficiency and environmental protection

NORRES Schlauchtechnik proves to be an environmentally friendly and future-oriented company: The manufacturer of technical hoses pursues a sustainability strategy in which many forward-looking ideas on environmental protection, energy saving and efficiency increase have been consistently implemented. Ecology and economy are anchored as common objectives in the corporate culture and strategy.

Modern building technology protects the environment

The headquarters at Gelsenkirchen's city harbor convinces with modern and environmentally friendly building services engineering. Energy saving takes place here on every level: The centrally controlled air-conditioning technology and the production facilities protect the environment through heat recovery.. NORRES thus consistently and future-oriented pursues its sustainability strategy.

For NORRES, sustainability means not only the long service life and durability of the finished end product, but in particular its resource and environmentally friendly development and production. The advantage: durable products protect our environment and have the attractive economic side effect of permanently saving costs. For NORRES, however, the circle only closes when production is also environmentally friendly.

For the company, sustainability means planning for the future and is pursued in a goal-oriented manner: In manufacturing, production lines with specially integrated heat recovery save valuable resources and protect the environment already in the production process. The energy recovered from the waste heat in production is used as needed to heat the production halls. Regular gas heating is only used in the production area at NORRES if the waste heat generated in the production process is not sufficient for the required heating output. The temperature control is completely automated and thus saves energy efficiently.)

This permanent saving of resources is just one practical example that shows the sustainable and efficient use of new production facilities and techniques at NORRES. An advantage that the hose manufacturer with its expanded production and modern, rational and above all fast production is making available to its customers on a daily basis.

High demands in plastics recycling

Processing and recycling of reusable materials play an important role, especially in the production of hoses. At NORRES, the recycling of valuable materials has been integrated into the daily work routine. An in-house recycling plant currently reuses about 30% of the scrap produced during production.

The recycling plant recycles the scrap in three steps: In the first step, materials are collected by type and divided into different categories. In the subsequent second step, the raw material is separated from the plastic by machine. NORRES has chosen mechanical separation of the material for this step, because mechanical separation protects the material, unlike the thermal process. In the third and last step, the profile strips obtained are ground, in order to be returned to the further disposal process of the material companies.

The careful use of resources, as well as the responsible handling of raw materials, is the core of the company policy and is constantly being expanded. The NORRES Group is continuously working on the economic improvement of production processes and focuses on sustainable energy use and modern technologies, which enable us to act even more environmentally friendly and flexible. For NORRES - as a manufacturing company - environmental protection and resource conservation are among the strategic and proven success factors alongside innovative product technology, quality and innovative engineering.
