Polyurethane hoses / PU hoses
Polyurethane (PU) hoses from NORRES are characterised by very good product properties. They are abrasion-resistant and durable. Due to their nature, they are versatile. They convey and transport various media and are used in many areas of industry.
Production
PU hoses are produced in a variety of designs at our production facilities. The difference is in the construction, material, diameter and design.
For many of our PU hoses we use a special ester and a special ether polyurethane mixture for the production. The use of high-quality plastics guarantees NORRES polyurethane hoses a high product quality. We call this special polyurethane mixture Pre-PUR®. Polyurethane hoses made of Pre-PUR® are particularly durable.
We specifically adapt the design and properties of PU hoses to the needs of our customers. In this way, we create a special added value: we supply you with the optimum hose for your application.
Product variability
We manufacture the PU hoses in various construction variants. We have developed our constructions ourselves and had them patented. They differ in their construction and in their adaptations in the production process to achieve different properties. Some types of hoses can also be coloured.
Our constructions – proven and safe
AIRDUC® profile hoses
AIRDUC® polyurethane hoses have a firmly cast-in spring steel wire and are spirally welded. This makes the hose dimensionally stable without restricting its flexibility. In addition, it has a material-locking and secure connection and is gas- and liquid-tight. AIRDUC® polyurethane hoses are very light compared to similar plastic hoses and have a high flow rate..
PROTAPE® hoses
PROTAPE® polyurethane hoses have a spring steel wire embedded in the wall and are spirally welded from foil strips. Thanks to the welding process formerly patented by NORRES, we achieve optimum product quality with PROTAPE® hoses. The hoses are extremely flexible, compressible and have a low weight.
BARDUC® hoses
BARDUC® polyurethane hoses have a spring steel wire cast into the wall. The product advantage of these PU hoses: they are smooth on the inside and outside, axially very stiff and yet flexible. The hoses are gas- and liquid-tight.
NORPLAST® hoses
NORPLAST® polyurethane hoses have a hard plastic helix firmly cast into the wall and are welded in a spiral. Compared to steel wire reinforced hoses, they are usually lighter but less flexible.
NORFLEX® hoses without fabric reinforcement
NORFLEX® hoses are axially extruded. They have a regular wall thickness and are smooth on the inside and outside.
NORFLEX® hoses with fabric reinforcement
Some NORFLEX® hoses are manufactured with an additional fabric reinforcement. This is firmly cast into the wall. The hoses are pressure-resistant and axially stiff. They are nevertheless flexible and have a low weight.
Colouring
The colouring of some PU hoses from our portfolio is possible without any problems. Depending on the hose type, we can colour the hose completely in one colour or partially on request.
Partially coloured
We have developed a patented manufacturing process to partially colour AIRDUC® and PROTAPE® hoses. In this process, the so-called hose bead is coloured. The hose bead is the part of the PU hose into which the spring steel wire has been incorporated. The hose wall - between the beads - remains transparent. The conveying process can be observed undisturbed.
Properties
As already described, we use a special polyurethane mixture called Pre-PUR® to achieve product advantages. All our products made with these high-quality raw materials are marked with the Pre-PUR® icon (see picture on the right).
Depending on the base polyurethane of the Pre-PUR® hoses, they can have the following properties:
- very good mechanical strength
- high abrasion resistance
- higher compressive strength
- better hot air aging properties
- better low temperature flexibility
- resistant to microbes
- resistant to hydrolysis
- very long service life
- more safety reserves
Resistance
Pre-PUR® raw materials together with stabilisers lead to better resistance and longer service life of the PU hoses. Ideal for comparison is the hydrolysis measurement in water at 80 °C. In the hydrolysis measurement, we measured the abrasion and tensile strength between hoses made of Pre-PUR®
Abrasion resistance
The abrasion resistance of our Pre-PUR® polyurethanes is about 2.5-5 times better than that of many rubber raw materials and about 3-4 times higher than that of most soft PVCs (measured at 20°C). This is the result of a standard measurement. In addition, it was found that these serious differences are even greater in daily use. The detailed result can be found in the comparison diagram:
